A tool for advocates & providers
myPlan is a tool that survivors of intimate partner violence can use to help them make decisions about safety. Accessible through a discreet and confidential smartphone app (or web-based tool), myPlan is not meant as a replacement for your expertise--it is designed to encourage the majority of survivors who may never seek services to reach out for help.
Advocates can use myPlan with a client to help facilitate a discussion about their level of danger and their priorities when making difficult safety decisions.
Relationship violence directly affects a person’s health and well-being. Providers can introduce myPlan during a survivor’s health or support visit to use on their own, or can walk through it together with survivors.
Your safety is our greatest concern
After downloading the app, it will be PIN-code protected to keep your information safe. But be aware that if your partner checks your phone or monitors your phone activity, having an app about relationship abuse may put you at further risk. If you are concerned about someone discovering the app, delete it when you are done with it, but know that for most phones it’s not possible to delete the app from your purchase history. DATA COLLECTION AND USE
The myPlan app does not collect any personal identifying information from users. All information voluntarily entered into myPlan cannot be connected to an individual user. Our servers automatically collect information from users such as the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect the computer to the Internet, the average time spent on the app, date and time of visit, and pages clicked on, collectively known as “log data”. Log data and self-reported referral source will be used in a research study measuring utilization. This data is being collected between January 2017 and April 2019. After this period, the myPlan project will only be using the referral source data and log data to monitor and analyze use to increase myPlan’s functionality and informing long-term dissemination strategies. This information is being used in summary reports and does not identify specific users.
DATA STORAGE AND PROTECTION
All data collected by the myPlan app is stored on a secure server located within a large academic medical center following HIPAA guidelines for storage of medical and identifying information. Only authorized team members of the myPlan project have access to this data.
None of the data collected by myPlan is shared with any other entities or third-parties.

myPlan Youth Advisory Committee
The myPlan team will be enhancing the app to meet the needs of youth, aged 15-17, to inclue the addition of a chatbot. We're looking for youth who would be interested in guiding this opportunity through an advisory committee. You would be a part of a larger group of youth responsible for advising the myPlan app team on how to best ehance the app for this age group.
The committee will convene in March 2019, but we'll continue to accept new youth advisors over the next 6 months. The committee would meet virtually a couple of times a month from March until June 2019. Apply today so you don't miss out.
